Alternative ascent options involve conditions, responsibilities, and limitations that can be confusing if not known beforehand. Taking a few minutes to learn about them will help you better plan your visit and avoid misunderstandings during your mountain experience.
The Teleférico Cerro Otto Mountain Complex operates from the Teleférico Base (Km 5 of Av. Pioneros) and the summit of Cerro Otto, which is delimited by fenced areas.
All external access (vehicle roads, trails, or others) lies outside our jurisdiction, and any ascent on your own is undertaken at each visitor’s sole responsibility.
If you reach the summit by your own means, you must purchase a ticket to enter the Complex. This means that once there, if you wish to access our facilities, you will need to buy your ticket at the ticket office located at the summit.
The ticket grants access to the Complex. Therefore, there is no free access for arriving by vehicle or on foot; the fee is charged per person.
What’s included in my ticket
The ticket purchased at the summit includes ascent and descent on the summit funicular, access to the Revolving Restaurant, Art Gallery, various panoramic viewpoints, and a guided walk (subject to availability).

At the summit, tickets are sold at a ticket office that closes at 4:30 PM (hours are subject to weather conditions). If you are arriving on your own, we recommend checking our Pricing & Schedules page to plan your visit accordingly.
It is also important to check the funicular closing time to avoid missing the service.
Important: Overnight stays are not allowed, and entry is not permitted once the Complex is closed. After closing, no assistance of any kind is available.
Vehicle access is via a mountain road that begins at Km 1 of Av. Pioneros and runs for approximately 9 km of gravel, with sharp curves, narrow sections, and steep drop-offs.
Important information for visitors with limited mobility: even if arriving by vehicle, access to the Complex requires walking and going up part of the terrain.
During winter, depending on weather conditions, the road is often closed due to snow or poor conditions. We strongly advise against ascending during this season.
